School Council Minutes

We are proud to annouce that we have achieved the Healthy Schools Plaque

School Council

What are we up to?

This year we are looking at more recycling in school.  We have put recycling bins in the school hall so the children have been learning to recycle things in their packed lunch boxes.  Parents could help us get even greener by putting things in their children's lunch boxes that can be recycled.  Cling film cannot but tin foil can.

Last term we noticed that the parking outside school had improved and people were parking considerately.  Unfortunately there have been a lot of iinconsiderate parkers already this term.  With icy roads it is even more dangerous for the children crossing the road without the added danger of cars and vans parked on the corner and on the roundabout.  Please be more considerate and park further away from the school entrances and walk up to the school.

What are school councils?

School councils are democratically elected groups of students who represent their peers and enable pupils to become partners in their own education, making a positive contribution to the school environment and ethos.

What do school councils achieve?

School councils make a positive contribution to every aspect of the school community. They:

  • improve academic performance
  • reduce bullying and vandalism
  • reduce school exclusions
  • improve teacher-pupil relations

Our school council consists of an elected Chair and Vice Chair who are in Year 6.  Secretary and Vice Secretary who are in Year 5 and a boy and a girl representative from each year group in the school including Reception.

They meet at least once a month with a member of staff present and usually iinvite one of the School Governors.
