Welcome to Irchester Class...

In Irchester class you will always find our year 1 and 2 children hard at work and eager to learn about our new rainforest topic. The class theme is 'Rainforest Journeys’ and the children will become geographers learning all about the 7 continents, 5 oceans and the many different rainforests across the globe. In science the children will be finding out about different animals and plants, food chains and animal adaptations. In art we will be exploring a famous piece of art called ‘Tiger in a tropical storm’ by Henri Rousseau. The children will have the opportunity to recreate this piece of art using oil pastels. We will have a range of different reading books based on the rainforest including fiction and non-fiction texts. We will be using some of these books in English and writing our own rainforest adventure stories.

Here are some of the books we will be using this term that you may wish to purchase and read with your child at home:

About Us

We are a small well-resourced Church of England primary school with 89 pupils currently on roll. At Milton, there is a strong Christian ethos that pervades all areas of school life. We have strong links with our local church and community. There is a good 'family' feel - we know each other well.

New children are assigned a 'buddy', settle well and make friends quickly. We are pleased to be a member of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust. Click here for the PDET news page.
