Welcome to Irchester Class...

In Irchester, the year 2 children are with Mrs Scott and Miss Blain.  This term in Irchester, we are looking forward to being able to make the most of our amazing school grounds and taking some of our learning outside. Through our theme of Pond Life, we will be trying to begin re-developing the area around our school pond, learning all about the different animals that live there and why this habitat is suitable for them. We will also be learning about life cycles of animals and plants, looking at what plants need to be healthy and hopefully even growing some plants from seed. We have lots of fantastic books to support our learning including some stories to fire our imagination.

How can you help at home?

  • Work together to build a model of a pond and bring into school to show your class or a friend.
  • Plant some seeds in an outdoor space at home.  Draw pictures or take photographs of how your seed grows and bring into school.
  • Visit your local library to read and borrow books about life cycles of frogs or butterflies.  Your local libraries can be found at East Hunsbury and Wootton.
  • Take a visit to a local pond in the neighouring village of Collingtree in Glebe Farm Close - write down all the things you can see and hear.
  • Look together at the BBC teach website about plants and lifecycles - BBC teach KS1 science

About Us

We are a small well-resourced Church of England primary school with 89 pupils currently on roll. At Milton, there is a strong Christian ethos that pervades all areas of school life. We have strong links with our local church and community. There is a good 'family' feel - we know each other well.

New children are assigned a 'buddy', settle well and make friends quickly. We are pleased to be a member of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust. Click here for the PDET news page.
